Play for Work with “Duplex”

June 30th, 2010

Duplex Multiuse WorkspaceOnce I saw this on a t-shirt, it says “Born for fish, Forced to work”. Well, maybe not always has to be fish, but I really find most people around me don’t love to work, maybe that’s why we always say Play for work. So, here today we’ve got you something to help getting work really playful, the Duplex Multiuse Workspace is like the best workspace ever.

“Duplex” is a modular workspace designed by Sophie Kirkpatrik and its main features include an adjustable hood and three legs. The adjustable hood allows you to change the “Duplex” into different shapes according to your varied needs: you can mount the hood to create a private space or lower it down to extend the workspace. And the “three legs”, one less than that of common tables, gives the furniture a unique looking, making it quite eye-catching in any given situations, but of course as sturdy as those with four legs.

Duplex Multiuse Workspace 1A little more privacy, or more fresh air, it’s now really up to you! Hopefully you like it.

Time for Picnic

June 27th, 2010

OASIS Folding Table and ChairsEvery summer is joyful, but this summer must be even more memorable because of the World Cup Match. Every picnic is playful, but this summer picnic will be even more enjoyable and fun because of this OASIS Folding Table and Chairs. They will totally make picnic much easier.

The 2010 summer is wonderful enough to be memorable—we sit under the open sky, breath in the fresh air, and watch the live telecasting of the world cup match with numerous people. And of course we all use the OASIS 2-Person Folding Table and Chairs. Shaped like a small suitcase that measures 23 3/4″ x 15 3/4″ x 4 1/2″ (L x H x D), the furniture actually can be expanded into 31 1/2″ Length x 23 5/8″ Width x 25 9/16″ Height, especially perfect for camping and picnic.

I love foldable furnitures, and they’re even more adorable when in outdoor use. Because apparently it is more convenient carrying a suitcase other than a table and two chairs, right.

Fun Chair

June 23rd, 2010

SchaukelwagenEveryone wants a rocking chair, for it just feels so happy to sit and rock in a rocking chair. I still remember when I was young I used to love rocking in my grandma’s old chair and I actually enjoyed the “ga-ga” wooden noise. On the other hand, you know what, every kid wants a play car to sit in and play car games. So if you have this Schaukelwagen, it means you have a rocking chair for yourself and a play car for your kid at the same time.

Well, well, the “Schaukelwagen” concept has already existed for more than 50 years before it finally came into real products. But fortunately we can see them visually here at myhouseholdapplices.com. Designed by Hans Brockhage and Erwin Andra, the unique furniture consists of only a birch frame, a molded plywood seat and four wheels, but allows for double duty as both a rocking chair and a kid’s play car.

I totally love the fun chair, and I would really love to get one of my own.

A New Chair Everyday

June 21st, 2010

Darwin ChairI love chairs, cute interesting chairs that offer me a rest and a nice looking at home too. As everyday we may have different agendas and different moods, I sometimes want a different look of my home too, and at that point I would love to have a different char, so that’s probably how we get too many chairs at home.

Everybody loves new items, and that’s maybe an important reason why we keep on shopping and shopping… But with the ‘Darwin Chair’, you no longer need to buy new chairs. Designed by Stefan Sagmeister, the chair is constructed from a free swinging structure, covered with more than 200 sheets of prints. As the top sheets get dirty or boring, you simply need to rip it off and then you’ll have a new chair!

So, now you may each day own a new chair with this innovative ‘Darwin Chair’. Although I’d love the chair more if the sheets are reusable, still this is a really nice chair for any home since it has so many ‘faces’.

And as for chairs, we use them all the time, and we’ve seen some pretty innovative ones too, but always a good thing to have one more choice right? Well, let’s check out this Vuzzle Transformable Cube.

Vuzzle Cube designed by Christopher Daniel is a transformable and multiuse chair that comprises of 59 removable cushions. Each poly surface-shaped cushion comes with a built-in neodymium magnet, due to which these cushions can keep a cohesive status. Also, the magnet ensures an easy transformation of the cushions, enabling you to change the cube into different shapes. For example, you can remove 13 cushions to turn the cube into a chair; or divide the complete cube into separated cells and use them as stools or footrests. Both Vuzzle Milk and Vuzzle Bloody Mary are available now, and we bet they’ll definitely give your modern room a cool looking.

It is interesting, and has a clear modern feeling, and also very creative, I would love to enjoy the DIY fun, and maybe I can design some interesting stools of my own, and that’s cool.

Call it A Versatile Storage System

May 17th, 2010

Turning BoxesAlong  with our living standard being improved, our living space is becoming more and more small, not because we’re getting less living space, just we’re simply getting more and more gadgets for our life, and we might not have a storage system that is smart enough to store them nicely.

Yes, that’s our problem, it’s not that we can’t have so many little things, it’s just we need a nice storage system which can help us do the storage efficiently and beautifully. If you haven’t find yours yet, maybe this Turning Boxes is what you’ve been looking for.

Good design helps with better life! Take Lab Istanbul’s Turning Boxes for example. The creative bookshelf is made up of a series of boxes that can be conveniently rotated to serve as either a shelf or a container. So it is actually a multifunctional storage system for studio apartments and other small living areas where full-size furniture isn’t welcomed.

This is a really nice design, very beautiful and functional, and it can do storage for almost all your gadgets including books. It is really great to have this thing for life, and with a label on each box, everything’s literally at hand!

60 Drawers for All Your Gadgets

May 12th, 2010

60 Drawer Storage CabinetWe all love little gadgets and we do have many little gadgets, but do you still feel like you don’t have enough? Well, I do, simply because I don’t know where they are when I want to use them. Another problem that really bothers me is that when I don’t want to use them I really don’t know where to put them, so sometimes they just mysteriously disappear, then I had to buy new ones that will probably face the same destination.

Well, that’s one reason why we’ve always got too many gadgets (and another is that we simply love cute gadgets). So a nice storage system will do just great to us, and help us to cut some avoidable cost. And I think this 60 Drawer Storage Cabinet is very good for this.

One, two, three, four… possibly nobody could figure out the exact number of the drawers this unique furniture actually has on the first sight. And guess what, there’re totally 60 drawers!!! OMG, no wonder it is deemed as a ‘Drawer Camp’.

The 60 drawers are totally enough for me, but will these drawers be enough for you? Anyway, the one thing I have not figured out about this cabinet is where to put this weird shaped cabinet. Any idea?

A Sweet Little Light in Your Table

May 10th, 2010

Firefly TableI love interesting small tables, they’re cute and make my life colorful and joyful. When I am having dinner along, or when I want to have a read, I always wanted to have a interesting small table to add the fun. So after some Google work, I found this Firefly table I think I should share with you guys. It’s a sweet table that is interesting, romantic and functional.

Inspired by the beautiful fireflies sparking in the gardens on summer nights, Vuk Dragovic has come up with an innovative table also named as “Firefly”. It has a built-in lamp, which is powered by solar energy collected during the daytime and emits light in the nights. At the bottom of the lamp, there’s usually text or logo that could be projected onto the ground to boast certain products, movies, and firms.

This table is very interesting and do will make your time at home more enjoyable, I really love the design, and the little light is so thoughtful and sweet.
