A EuroBike Gold Award Winer, the Flax Fiber Bicycle

September 24th, 2010

World’s First Flax Fiber BicycleYeah, I’ve always wanted a quite unique bicycle, although so many we’ve introduced this one has a very unique quality that attracts me – It is the World’s First Flax Fiber Bicycle! Yes, it is made of flax fiber, the material we’d love to wear on ourselves, it is now wrapping the bicycle too. Can’t believe it? Check the story out.

Though flax fiber is widely used for suits, have you ever thought of making a bike with the same material? Actually, the world’s first bike made from flax fiber has already won EuroBike Gold Award. Built from biodegradable flax fibers, the bike is durable and lightweight, and it performs well at absorbing and dampening road vibrations. It’s also built with a battery-free lighting system that is powered by a dynamo in the front hub, making it a stylish and eco ride.

I love beautiful designs, I love innovative ideas, and everything becomes so cheerful when it’s eco-friendly! The flax fiber is absolutely adorable, I love it totally!

Concept Bike Made of Plastic

May 27th, 2010

Izzy Plastic Urban Bike ConceptToday we’re going to talk about bikes, the little two-wheeled transportation we love. As we all know, the conventional bicycles are made of metals (like iron, steel, or some others), as cars are basically made of metals too, so we then assumed that bikes have to be made of metals, other wise they wouldn’t be strong enough to holder us. Well, now is the time to change your mind, because the Izzy Plastic Urban Bike is on the way.

“Made of plastic” is not the only characteristic of the Izzy Plastic Urban Bike, a collaborative project between Omer Sagiv and Uri Sadeh. One would expect a fragile vehicle but the bike is actually quite firm to bear the weight of two adults (quite impressive huh?). Best of all, its frame is recyclable, which means that you can have the damaged frame replaced at the store. To top off the cool concept, the bike also incorporates 2 free standing locking systems, three-dimensional illumination, and the integrated rear suspension.

But does the “completely plastic design” also means the bikes could be easily burned to ashes? Hopefully not.

Anyway, the bike looks great and the recyclable plastic is a meaningful nice design. Let’s just wait to see this bike hit the market soon, and looking for some more details.
