Hide Your Table

July 25th, 2010

wall mount tablesEvery home needs some creativity, that’s the idea of life, and that’s the fun of householding. So as we can never get enough room at home, we’re always looking for ways to make good use of our limited space at home, and that’s why these interesting tables are made for you. Look! My tables can fold into the wall!

Tables are needed furniture but they’re usually also bulky, so you have to dedicate quite a large amount of space to them. And that’s why tables and especially the long tables are often tough to fit in small apartments. Except these tables created by Ochre. The designers solved that problem by folding the tables into the wall when they’re not in use, therefore offering you a spacious room for other activities. When you want a table, just pull them out of the wall and you can use them as a dining table or a work bench.

Hah…This is really fun, and I’d totally love to have tables like this! Do you?

Wanna a big meal? Well, these creative pots designed by Thelermont Hupton would like to join you, too. Each of them comes with an expressive and animated face, simulating people’s various facial expressions of eating, growling or yawning, and that’s really interesting!

Although they havenot hit the market yet, but the good news is that these pots will make their first appearance at 100% Design in London September 23-26, 2010, and you can see them for real then.

DIY: Funny Shoe Racks Made Of Drain Pipes

April 11th, 2010

DIY Shoe Racks using Drain PipesLife is colorful and DIY is playful, and this time I’m going to tell you about how to craft beautiful shoe racks using drain pipes. You know we never have enough shoes and shoe cases are always too big and ugly, so maybe nice looking shoe racks can have your shoes stay organized and make a nice view of your house.

Creative shoe racks may give an eye-pleasing look to your living spaces, but they usually cost you too much money. However, the rack designed by Jost Litzen is an innovative storage system that eliminates the need of purchasing expensive shoe racks. The best part is that, what the rack finally looks like is all up to you! It is quite easy to create: simply prepare several tubes, form them into certain shapes using ropes and then done!

And if you are not so sure about the ropes, you can use glues at the same time to help organizing these pipes. The best part, you can always enlarge it for more shoes. So, enjoy the DIY fun!

“Lift Oven” for life

January 26th, 2010

Gaggenau OvenWomen love baking, it feels really awesome every time we made out some delicious cookies, not to mention a nice cake! We love the sweet smell and the wonderful mouthfeel of different cookies and cakes, and indeed we enjoy making such beautiful food, seriously! But what is this always standing in the way, driving us away from baking?

The oven! Of course, most of us have been injured or failed to make nice food due to a terrible oven. Here’s an example, every time you open the oven door, some heat escapes, which is one of the many reasons that baking times can vary from person-to-person for the same recipe, as there is no telling from a writer’s standpoint how long a person will leave his or her oven door open while trying to fit in cake pans and baking sheets, and this is sometimes why you can’t make out the right cake or cookie you’re suppose to. Now, the famous kitchen manufacturer Gaggenau has come up with an absolutely gorgeous oven that tries to solve this problem. The “Lift Oven” is built to utilize the fact that heat rises and, instead of having a door that opens on the front of the oven, it has a base that lowers to open and raises to close – leaving the hot air in the preheated oven above. Better yet, the manufacturer suggests mounting this oven above the counter, so the platform comes down to your level for loading and unloading and completely eliminating the need to bend down or to reach into a hot oven, therefore much less burnt! The oven opens and closes at the touch of a button, and Gaggenau says that it has 11 different heating methods, including a convection setting. It also has a glass-ceramic base, which you can put cookies, breads, pizzas and other baked goods on – no baking sheet required.

However, the only real drawbacks are the the oven is only 24 inches (many out there are larger, so it might not be idea for very large roasts, etc.) and it comes up with a quite astonishing price tag of $4,000. Well, Let’s say, there are plenty of ovens that are even more expensive, and this is still a great oven with wise design.
