Run on 3 Wheels

June 15th, 2010

Three-wheeled Peugeot VelociteCars are quite a very important part of our life, we actually depend on it to take us to our destinations almost everyday. Cars are a very convenient transportation, but lately we hear more and more about global warming and other environmental problems that was largely caused by our cars, so we now seek some more eco-friendly cars to make peace with nature.

Then this Three-wheeled Peugeot Velocite might be a really good choice to maintain the balance between protecting nature and keep travel conveniently.

Now if you know three-wheeled cars, they’re usually ugly and not very eco-friendly, then this one is no conventional three-wheeled car.

Developed by Juan Carlos for the year 2020, the “Peugeot Velocite” has borrowed a cool shape of the sports cars but actually runs on three wheels, making the electric vehicle different from all others. It is also eco-friendly, powered by low-resistance electric motor and offers zero emission. When running downhill, the Velocite will recharge its onboard batteries automatically. Plus, the concept still features a motorcycle-like suspension setup with a single swing-arm for easy controls.

I actually love the cool shape, and the small size is quite adorable and useful. This must be the coolest three-wheeled car ever. Too bad this thing is just a concept now, and obviously we have to wait for years to see this hit the market.

Concept Bike Made of Plastic

May 27th, 2010

Izzy Plastic Urban Bike ConceptToday we’re going to talk about bikes, the little two-wheeled transportation we love. As we all know, the conventional bicycles are made of metals (like iron, steel, or some others), as cars are basically made of metals too, so we then assumed that bikes have to be made of metals, other wise they wouldn’t be strong enough to holder us. Well, now is the time to change your mind, because the Izzy Plastic Urban Bike is on the way.

“Made of plastic” is not the only characteristic of the Izzy Plastic Urban Bike, a collaborative project between Omer Sagiv and Uri Sadeh. One would expect a fragile vehicle but the bike is actually quite firm to bear the weight of two adults (quite impressive huh?). Best of all, its frame is recyclable, which means that you can have the damaged frame replaced at the store. To top off the cool concept, the bike also incorporates 2 free standing locking systems, three-dimensional illumination, and the integrated rear suspension.

But does the “completely plastic design” also means the bikes could be easily burned to ashes? Hopefully not.

Anyway, the bike looks great and the recyclable plastic is a meaningful nice design. Let’s just wait to see this bike hit the market soon, and looking for some more details.

April 13th, 2010

Canister vacuum cleaner with auto floor detection from Miele

As the Earth Day is just around the corner, we should really get to know some more eco-friendly products, and if possible try to use them instead of conventional ones. So, here, today, a canister vacuum cleaner with auto floor detection-Miele Earth for you. Let’s see this cute little guy’s suppose to save energy and help solve these ecology problems!

Miele Earth is the new canister vacuum cleaner from Miele S5 Series. Powerful 1,200 Watt electronically controlled S 5481 Earth, which is already in stores, is an Eco-friendly canister vacuum cleaner with 33-foot operating range, boasting some of the most energy-saving advancements the industry has to offer. Featuring an AutoEco setting that automatically detects flooring type, be it carpet or smooth floor, the Miele vacuum adjusts power for optimal cleaning performance and energy efficiency. While homeowners tend to think that the highest power setting is best for cleaning all surfaces, this is only true for smooth floors. Upholstery, drapes and carpets require specific settings for optimal cleaning and using AutoEco saves tremendously in energy consumption, and provides better performance and long term care for home furnishings.

Other green features of this canister vacuum from Miele include a 20-year life design model, use of easily recyclable virgin polymers, cadmium and lead-free coatings, water-based paints and low energy consumption. As with other Miele canister type vacuums, the Earth is ideal for indoor air with all fine dust and allergens being trapped in its unique Sealed System featuring a certified HEPA filter and advanced filtering dust bag. Miele revolutionary Filter-Bag consist of multiply, random-spun filter material and protective netting to reinforce the outer layer in order to ensure that dust and debris safely stays in the bag. Inside a Filter-Bag, air guides distribute dust evenly throughout the bag, achieving a 25% longer life cycle without any loss in performance. A downstream HEPA filter then captures even the tiniest of particles, retaining lung damaging particles inside the vacuum. Price for this vacuum is around $970.

Well, pricey yet interesting! Maybe with that money in our pocket we should get this little thing instead of a fancy dress, really! The world is our home, look after it.

Cute Mini Car Does Good To Protect The Earth

April 12th, 2010

"Bug" eco-friendly concept mini carWith the Earth Day driving closer and closer, the voice of “saving the world” becomes louder and clearer, I guess this is the time we should really be more enthusiastic over these eco-friendly projects as a consumer or a manufacturer alike! On the other hand, cars, the transportation we use almost everyday, is mainly responsible the the global warming problem. As we all aware of that, we’re really glad to see the eco-friendly project in the car industry gradually taking progress. The little “Bug” here looks really nice!

As the cities get more crowded and polluted, numerous automakers and designers are trying to tackle the problem of moving people around efficiently while not using materials that are harmful to the environment. And so is the Brazilian designer Ricardo Fedrizzi, who has recently sent in the images of his “Bug” concept mini car. It is a two-seater auto that is designed to go on a charge, making it a zero emission car for the city. Another point worth noting is the recyclable and renewable materials used to make the body of the car, which greatly reduces the vehicle’s weight. Besides, Fedrizzi’s concept also features an aerodynamic shape to maximize its performance.

Pity that it is only a concept at present and we may have to wait for days (if luckily, you know sometimes it takes months, even years)to see the practical car hit the market. But still this is a big progress, I’m really looking forward to the real one.

Ahhh, By Bicycle…

March 22nd, 2010

Carbon Fiber Electric BikeDo I have to say this: I Love Bicycle! Living in a modern world like this we go everywhere in our little car, it’s understandably more convenient, faster, but meanwhile, we lost lots of fun and some exercise too. So I do love bicycle, that’s definitely not just a big toy for kids (though the truth is most bike users are kids or professional athlete). The transportation is admitted not as faster, but speed really isn’t that important compared to a healthier and more vigorous lifestyle!

This is one wisely designed gorgeous bicycle! If you need an electrical bicycle, or a lightweight bicycle and you might still need it to be eco-friendly? Well, what you want is rightly the Carbon Fiber Electric Bike by Ralf Kittmann. The concept bike adopts the carbon fiber—which is highly conductive—to take the place of wires as a power distribution network. So when the electricity is generated from the special electric installation built inside the frame, it will be transferred to power the motors between the rims and the lights. That energy will also be used to drive the system to turn the wheel, by using a counter-turning axel in lieu of gears and chains.

OK, this is it. Do you love it? It’s beautiful and elegant, and also eco-friendly, the only flaw I can find is that this can’t work manually, so if the electricity went out we’ll be stuck, and we’ll lose a lot of exercise while using this instead of a traditional bicycle. Nonetheless, sitting on a bicycle seat is already more exercise than sitting in your comfortable little car, and in addition, we can got much more fresh air on the way!Carbon Fiber Electric Bike in use

iSave Faucet, Start Saving for The Future

March 07th, 2010

iSave faucetThe world is our home, take care of it! It has been a long time since we aware of the environmental problems and we’ve been told to take actions to protect the world, but somehow things continued getting worse even though we thought we’ve done the things right as we can! The truth is we’re trying hard enough, these little bad habits we ignored actually are very important. The key to this thing is to take actions start from the very little things!

It’s quite good to see that this green concept is really making people think about the dooms day. The urgency, restlessness, fuel prices rising can be seen. Go green is really the call of the hour, and here is a nice product to be looked upon – iSave faucet by Reamon Yu, a design so smart and efficient that it was recently chosen as a runner-up in the Metropolis Magazine Next Generation awards. It is a LED display for faucets and showers to make users aware of their water usage, and then make them more inclined to save water.

iSave faucet sketchThe gadget can easily attach to your sink or showerhead to provide a digital readout of the amount of water that was being used in a shower. Another exciting feature is – it doesn’t need any external energy to keep it running rather energy is generated through a turbine which activates as the water pressurizes it. Looks aren’t bad either! So next time you use water – be careful, either buy this gadget or try curbing your water consumption. I really think this idea is genius! Let’s all start saving for the future!

We all love funny chairs, it has always been delight to have a funny chair at home or at the office, for that means you can actually have fun whenever you want. How wonderful is that! Well, let’s have a look at the funny chair here.

Incorporating an ‘accordion-like, honeycomb’ structure, the FlexibleLove Virgin designed by Chishen Chiu could accommodate a seating for 8 to 16 people at one time. The product line now consists of two different kinds of FlexibleLove, the Earth 8 and the Earth 16. Both of them are made of recycled materials like the recycled paper, recycled wood waste, etc. When given a simple pull at each end, the furniture could be easily transformed into a semicircular or a circular-shaped seating to hold as many as 16 people. But when folded up, it measures merely one tenths of that.

So, very compact design, nice looking and as the official site says”Furniture from paper. Ecological, Adaptable, Practical.” This is a chair suitable for any place, inside house, office, garden, public region…Always happy to see a beautiful funny chair…Well, how do you like it?

LED EcoBulb-illuminates only directions needed

January 10th, 2010

EcoBulbThe world is our home, Look After it! It has been very clear to us that we have to care about the world we live in, people today are always more willing  to use eco-friendly appliances other than the old ones. So I’m going to introduce a LED Ecoulb here for all of you and for the world we live in.

Well, we’re required to save power energy from time to time, but how? I mean, we truly can control how often we use the lights, but we couldn’t decide how much energy we’re using since every bulb is designed to illuminate the whole room with certain light intensity. Except the ‘EcoBulb’ designed by Seokjae Rhee, it’s a design that says “Please just use the lights YOU NEED”. It is an adjustable bulb that comes with six distinct sections, each of which could be remotely controlled to change their brightness and lighting directions. As a result, ‘EcoBulb’ will merely illuminate those needed parts of the room with required light.

So basically, with this intelligent bulb you can easily save power energy by nearly harf. In my opinion, this is merely suitable for bedrooms but not for sitting rooms or kitchens. Well, better than nothing! Get one and start looking after your HOME. Here is how it works:
